Wuppertal, 7 March 2022 - "The feedback from the Vorwerk community has been overwhelming." Dr Thomas Stoffmehl, Speaker of the Executive Board of the Vorwerk Group, is deeply impressed by the response after the announcement of an emergency aid of 100,000 euros in favour of the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." (RTL Foundation - We help children), thus supporting the SOS Children's Villages in Ukraine without deducting a cent. Many international subsidiaries have given feedback that they want to actively participate in the aid. The owner family has also announced further support. In total, donations from the Vorwerk Community of 400,000 euros have already reached the relief organisations.
The quick promise of help from the foundation of the Cologne-based broadcaster has given the organisers on the ground the opportunity to continue their work. With success, as the SOS Children's Villages worldwide report: "The foster families from the SOS Children's Village Brovary (Kiev region) and from the Luhansk region, who have been in relatively safe western Ukraine since mid-February, have left for Poland. They have been picked up at the Ukrainian-Polish border by staff of the SOS Children's Villages of Poland and placed in Polish SOS programmes. Almost all of the foster families who had remained in the SOS Children's Village Brovary/Kiev were able to travel on an evacuation train from Kiev to Lviv and will also travel on to Poland from there. All children, families and staff of SOS Children's Villages Ukraine who are currently still in the country are safe so far but have to spend the night in bomb shelters almost all the time."
"Our goal remains to help children and their families in this absolute emergency situation and to enable evacuation. Several organizations on the ground have joined forces to do this, and all donations will be used for this purpose," says Thomas Stoffmehl.
The "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." (RTL Foundation - We help children) is providing immediate aid with its partner organizations on the ground, which are looking after children and families around the clock. "The corridors through which evacuations and food supplies are possible are important. Negotiations are continuing on these life-saving corridors, and there is currently a promise that they will be set up," says Wolfram Kons, head of Charity RTL and chairman of the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." foundation. So help is needed quickly.
