Direct aid for SOS Children's Villages in the Ukraine

Wuppertal, 26 February 2022  – The Vorwerk Group, in cooperation with the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V" (RTL Foundation - We help children), is supporting the SOS Children's Villages in Ukraine with emergency aid amounting to 100,000 Euros. "Our sympathy goes out to the people in the affected regions," said Dr. Thomas Stoffmehl, Speaker of the Executive Board of the Vorwerk Group. "It is a great concern for us as a Vorwerk Community to provide immediate help here." Among those in need are above all families and children. The Vorwerk Group has been a partner of the SOS Children's Villages worldwide for many years.

"Families from the two SOS Children's Villages in Ukraine are partly on fleeing and have to seek protection in air raid shelters. Of course, the goal is to find safe places for the children again," says Petra Horn, Member of the Board of SOS Children's Villages worldwide. "The costs for the evacuations are high. Also, in addition to the transports, housing must be organized and security guards and additional educators have to be paid to help the arriving families. We are very grateful that the Vorwerk Group, together with the Foundation RTL, is providing us with the urgently needed support so quickly."

In view of the dramatic situation in Ukraine, the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." (RTL Foundation - We help children) initiated a fundraising campaign for the affected children and their families already on Thursday and set the first aid on its way. "We need to help these children and families immediately in this dramatic state of emergency. We are very grateful that we can now help children and their families in particular on the ground with experienced partner organizations. We are in constant contact with the helpers and are shocked by what is happening," said Wolfram Kons, Head of Charity RTL and Chairman of "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V.". "The solidarity and willingness to help is great and we guarantee: Every cent goes there."

About SOS Children's Villages worldwide

The SOS Children's Villages are an independent social organisation founded in 1949 by Hermann Gmeiner. Today, the organisation is active in 137 countries with over 550 children's villages and more than 2,500 other SOS facilities such as kindergartens, schools, youth facilities, training and social centres, hospital wards, emergency aid projects and SOS Family Aid, and supports around 1.5 million children and adults every year.
