From Chinese Tea Culture to Thermomix® – Ji Da Qing's Exciting Journey to Becoming a Top Advisor

In the world of our direct sales, there are personalities who shine far beyond the sales figures. In our series about our tireless advisors who have sold the most Thermomix® or Kobold appliances in their Vorwerk market, today we introduce you to Ji Da Qing from China, who is one of these inspiring people.

Ji Da Qing is only 53 years old, but he already has a remarkable professional journey behind him. The Thermomix® Team leader began his career at Itochu, one of Japan's largest companies involved in foreign trade. His special flair for culinary delights has stayed with him ever since: He ran a tea house and restaurant independently before joining Vorwerk as an advisor in September 2016. “There were many reasons for this: I love trying new things and sharing my positive life experiences with friends. I was immediately fascinated by the Thermomix® because it showed me how good food can taste and how it makes life much easier,” he reports. 

Although Da Qing was still very nervous and quite inexperienced during his first demonstration, the outstanding capabilities of the Thermomix® and his friendly manner immediately impressed everyone present. He recalls: “I'm so proud that 11 customers ordered an appliance right at my first demonstration. That really encouraged me in my future work.” He realized the very special effect that the Thermomix® can achieve during another product demonstration: “I presented our product to an 88-year-old woman. She recognized the Thermomix® and ordered it immediately.” This encounter showed him that people of all ages long for a healthy and high-quality lifestyle. At the same time, he received valuable feedback from the customer, which helped him with future demonstrations.

The recipe for success? Passion!

His rise at Vorwerk was motivated by numerous team and individual awards. In 2020, for example, he and his team were number 1 in worldwide Thermomix® sales. An absolute highlight in the Team leader’s career. He also managed to break the magic barrier of 2000 units sold. Da Qing has been continuously building his team and his personal brand for nine years now. For him, the key factors for success are a high level of emotional intelligence, a love of sharing, loyalty “and an enduring passion for what I love”.

A look into the future

To conclude, Da Qing once again highlights the particular challenge of being a Thermomix® advisor in China: “In terms of cooking culture, China is very different from European countries or the United States. Stir frying over an open fire is a tradition in China that goes back thousands of years and is deeply rooted in history – even in “normal” households. It is difficult to convert this method to an electric and functional appliance like the Thermomix®,” he says. “But even though it may be a little slower to promote to everyone in China, I am sure we will soon achieve the highest Thermomix® sales figures in the world here. And Da Qing and his team will make a very special contribution to this.
